Salsa Sound Shortlisted for Sports Video Group Europe Sports TV Award

Salsa Sound are delighted to be shortlisted for the SVG Europe Sports TV Awards 2021. The awards celebrate the best of European sports production for what has been an extraordinary and challenging year for everyone including the sports and broadcast industries.  

We have been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Audio Innovation’ category for our vCrowd virtual crowd sound solution as used by CBS, Big10 Network, Vista Worldlink, Manchester City FC and others. When all sport was cancelled at the start of the pandemic it seemed likely that we would have games behind closed doors before normality resumed so we partnered with Manchester City to provide virtual crowd sound for lockdown games. Controlling every nuance and reaction of the sound of UK football fans was clearly going to be a challenge for live production so we created an easy-to-use, intuitive touchscreen app that could control every cheer, chant and controversy in real time using simple gestures on the touchscreen.

Following broadcasts with City the app was picked up by several US broadcasters and clubs across arrange of sport from soccer and American football to basketball and ice hockey with bespoke sample banks developed per sport and per club as needed.
